Growing up on a family farm with lots of kids meant there always was a cow and a pig or two in the freezer. With today’s smaller family sizes and fast paced lives, the De Wetering’s are no exception with their two children and found that a 1/2 cow and a whole pig was too much meat in the freezer for their family.
In 2008 they were able to share the family tradition of eating farm fresh quality beef & pork with other families by starting their local freezer meat business. They signed up under the Home Grown Ontario brand and joined the Huron-Perth Buy Local Buy Fresh Map. The next year they joined Stratford Tourism Alliance linking farmers to restaurants and consumers.
