Our Background

You can take the boy or girl out of the country but, you can’t take the country out of the boy or girl.

Rich grew up just outside of Kinkora, Ontario in Perth County. His Dad ran a Livestock business, raised cattle and some pigs on their “one 50 acre farm” as his Dad called it. Being the youngest of ten kids, Rich did his fair share of farm chores as the older boys moved on. “Shovelling the manure” by hand wasn’t his favourite so when he was 14 he built a loader tractor out of old car parts. Mechanizing farm jobs made good sense and led to getting his apprenticeship as a Farm Mechanic from Fanshawe College in London and a job at a John Deere dealership. A jack-of-all trades, he never left the country too far behind as he trucked past the Southwestern Ontario countryside while working for Purolator Courier.

Terry Ann, the eldest of seven, grew up on a Dairy Farm just outside of Ethel in Huron County. She was no stranger to hard work and farm life. She too ended up at Fanshawe College but studied Information Technology. This led to a great career, lots of travelling, a Wilfrid Laurier BA majoring in Economics and more job related travels. Her mother’s illness brought her back home to help on the family Dairy. Her love for the country and her dream of owning and running her own farm never left.

The choice to start our own family farm was easy; making a living from the farm, a story.
